At the start of July, the wetransform team came together in the beautiful Odenwald for our second summer offsite. Last year's summer offsite took place in our hometown of Darmstadt, so this year we went a little further afield in Hesse and met up in Grasellenbach.

Having recently created a WebGIS for Climate Protection and Adaptation for the state of Hesse, we were well-prepared and blessed by the weather gods.

In this wonderful environment, the team discussed important technical and strategic matters, played games, sought out adventure, and enjoyed each other's company.

In the working sessions, the usage of AI to build or improve our solutions and internal processes was the central topic. We had used the past six months to experiment with new approaches to knowledge management, data harmonisation, and map creation. The progress on all of these fronts was extremely rapid and impressive, thanks to the efforts of the team members.

Now, we had to decide how to continue. We'll continue to build our internal knowledge management infrastructure, and we'll build the first version of an AI-based data transformation product in the next months. Our clients will soon be able to interact with all published data through LLMs and MCPs, and many other transformative features are in the pipeline.

This picture might look like a default meeting/workshop on the first sight and that is also a major part of getting together on an offsite. But looking closely, I see two important things:

Conclusion

As a remote-first company, offsites have always been important to wetransform. The summer offsite has been an excellent addition to our calendar, as it offers an opportunity to check in, connect, and have fun together. It's a great way to ensure that we are still sailing the course we charted in winter and to take note of anything that may need to be altered or requires special attention to thrive.
